Common laundry problems - dryer

PROBLEM

CAUSE

Greasy spots

• Dryer fabric softener improperly used. See manufacturer’s directions.

• Drying soiled items.

Lint

• Full lint screen. (See page 25.)

• Load ix>t properly sorted.

• Overdrying, especially synthetic fabrics that cause lint-attracting

static electricity.

• Load size too big or heavy.

• Tissue or paper left in pockets.

• Pilling (surface fuzz caused by normal wear and laundering)

attracts lint.

Shrinking

• Overdrying.

• Fabric type and quality inappropriate for drying.

• Dryer settings incorrect for fabric type.

• Manufacturer's care label instructions not followed.

Slow drying

• Full lint screen.

• Load too large and bulky to dry quickly.

• Dryer located in room with temperature below 45“F(7®C).

• Exhaust duct clogged, restricted, or too long.

Stains

• Drying soiled items.

• Dryer fabric softener improperly used. See manufacturer’s directions.

• Dryer interior stained. (See page 26 for cleaning procedures.)

Static

• Overdrying.
