Check the Running Configuration Settings
To check the value of the settings you have entered, enter the show running-config command at the
Router#
prompt:
Router# show running-config
To review changes you make to the configuration, use the EXEC mode show startup-config command to display the information
stored in NVRAM.
View Your System Configuration
You can use the show version (or show hardware) and the show diag commands to display the system hardware (the network
processing engine or network services engine and the number of interfaces installed), the software version, the names and
sources of configuration files, and the boot images. Use the show diag command to determine what type of port adapters and
I/O controller are installed.

command reference publications in the Cisco IOS software configuration documentation set that corresponds to the software
release installed on your Cisco hardware.
Perform Complex Configurations
After you have installed your Cisco 7200 VXR router hardware and minimally configured the system, you might need to
perform more complex configurations, which are beyond the scope of this publication.
For specific information on system and interface configuration, refer to the modular configuration and modular command
reference publications in the Cisco IOS software configuration documentation set that corresponds to the software release
installed on your Cisco hardware. These publications contain additional information on using the configure command.
Replace or Recover a Lost Password
See the Cisco 7200 VXR Installation and Configuration Guide , Chapter 4, “Observing System Startup and Performing a Basic
Configuration” for instructions. It is possible to recover the enable or console login password. The enable secret password is
encrypted and must be replaced with a new enable secret password.
