2.

Remove the tines from the other tine shaft.

B. To reinstall the tines:

When reinstalling the tines, refer to Photo 16 for

the correct location of each tine.

1. Check that the dust cover and felt washer (un
derneath the dust cover) are in place on the tine
shaft, against the side of the transmission. The set
screws on the dust covers should be tight and
should not allow the dust covers to move.

Clean the tine shafts and use fine-grade sandpa

per to remove any rust or burrs. Apply a thin coat
of oil to the tine shafts to make future tine removal
easier.

2. Slide the inner tine over the tine shaft (Photo 18,
followed by the outer tine (Photo 19).
3. Secure the tines with the hairpin cotter in the
outer hole in the tine shaft. It is easier to install the

hairpin cotter by inserting it through the hole in the

tine shaft 90° from its installed position and then
turning it so it lies flat against the outer tine.
4. Install the tines on the other tine shaft.

NARROW CULTIVATING

The two outer tines can be removed for a nar

rower tilling or cultivating width of approximately 6
inches (Figure 20).

To do this, simply remove the outer tines (see

previous instructions). Then place a tine spacer
(included with your machine) over the tine shaft.
Secure the spacer in place with the hairpin cotter.
