5. Remove and replace the blade belt.

6. Reassemble and adjust the belt tension. (See

figure 37.)

NOTE

Scalping the ground or running over
a clump of dirt can knock the blades
out of timing. Stop the tractor and

retime the blades.

Timing the Biades

1. Remove the center blade bolt on either blade.

2.

Rotate the blade on the cutting deck and

reassemble the other blade at 90° exactly as
shown in figure 36.

NOTE

If the blades are not timed it will af­
fect the cut of the grass and the
discharge.

Removing the Blade Belt

1. Remove the belt guard and drive pulley. (See

figure 34.)

2. Remove the blade belt cover.

3. Loosen the four hub bolts. (See figure 37.)

4. Loosen the tension adjusting nut. (See figure

35.)

Adjusting the Belt Tension

1. Loosen the four spindle nuts on the bottom of

the cutting deck. (See figure 37.)

2. Tap the deck with a hammer handle to loosen

the washers on the four spindle nuts.

3. Tighten the tension adjustment nut. See

figure 35.

4. Tighten the four spindle nuts.
