Refer to the operating instructions of the connected equipment
for details.
• The connecting cords are not supplied. Obtain the necessary
connecting cords.
• Consult your local Aiwa dealer for optional equipment.
VIDEO/AUX JACKS
This unit can input analog sound signals through these jacks.
Use a cable with RCA phono plugs to connect audio equipment
(turntables, LD players, MD players, VCRs, TV, etc.).
Connect the red plug to the R jack, and the white plug to the L
jack.
When connecting a turntable
Use an Aiwa turntable equipped with a built-in equalizer amplifier.
DIGITAL IN (OPTICAL) JACK
This unit can input digital sound signals through this jack.
This unit has a built-in sampling frequency rate converter, which
converts the sampling frequency rates that are different from the
MD sampling frequency rate (BS/CS tuner or DAT (32 kHz or 48
kHz), and other digital signals) into a sampling frequency rate
that can be recorded on an MD (44.1 kHz).
Use an optical cable to connect digital audio source equipment
(DAT deck, MD player, etc.).
Remove the dust cap .a) from DIGITALIN (OPTICAL) jack. Then,
connect an optical cable plug to DIGITAL IN (OPTICAL) jack.

When DIGITAL IN (OPTICAL) jack is not being used
Attach the supplied dust cap.
SURROUND SPEAKERS JACKS
Connect optional surround speakers with 8 to 16 ohms
impedance to the jacks.
CD DIGITAL OUT (OPTICAL) JACK
This unit can output CD digital sound signals through this jack.
Use an optical cable to connect digital audio equipment (digital
amplifier, DAT deck, MD recorder, etc.).
Remove the dust cap @ from CD DIGITAL OUT (OPTICAL) jack.
Then, connect an optical cable plug to CD DIGITAL OUT
(OPTICAL) jack.
When CD DIGITAL OUT (OPTICAL) jack is not being used
Attach the supplied dust cap.
Because this unit complies with the SCMS standard (page 26),
digital MD recordings made with this unit cannot be recorded
again via digital input to other digital devices.
Digital dubbing of MD recordings made with this unit from an
external satellite/cable receiver, however, may be possible
depending on the type of the tuner being used.
