THEORY OF OPERATION AND SPECIFICATIONS
Operation:
Coil L1 and capacitors C1 and C2 combine to form a tuned LC input filter, and
C3 matches the filter to Q1. Q1 is a high-gain "microwave" type transistor
operated as a common-emitter amplifier. It is self-biased for minimum noise
figure at 146 MHz, and normally exhibits a stage-gain of 16 dB. The output
impedance of Q1 approximates that of 50 or 70-ohm line.
