Placement

A Place the ZVOX 430 cabinet on a sturdy surface.
B Mount the ZVOX 430 cabinet to a wall using optional wall-mount

bracket hardware (available separately). An installation guide is

supplied with the bracket. The plastic feet on the bottom of the 430

cabinet can be removed by carefully prying them off with a dull blade.

Notes:
• The 430 cabinet should face the listening area. Try to align the cabinet

with the center of the TV screen.

• The threaded inserts on the back of the ZVOX 430 have 6mm metric

threads.

Power Connection

1 Connect the Power Supply’s 19VDC plug to the POWER 19VDC jack

on the back of the ZVOX 430 cabinet.

2 After you have confirmed the Power Supply is properly connected to

ZVOX 430, connect the AC power cord to the the Power Supply, then
plug it into a convenient AC receptacle. Don’t connect the Power Sup-
ply to an AC receptacle before connecting the Power Supply output to
the back of the ZVOX 430.

audio signal Connection

1 Connect one end of the Audio Cable to the “Audio Out” jacks of your

TV or other audio source (cable box, satellite receiver, DVD player). Use
the red plug for the red jack (right channel). Use the other plug for the
white jack (left channel).

2 Connect the red and white plugs on the other end of the Audio Cable

to the red and white INPUT 1 jacks on the back of the 430 cabinet.

Turn Off Your TV’s Internal speakers

1 Push the MENU button on the TV’s remote control and navigate to the

AUDIO setting options.

2 Choose SPEAKER: OFF (the wording may vary).
3 If available, set AUDIO OUT choice to VARIABLE (the wording may

vary). This is sometimes labeled AOV. Some TVs do not provide this

option. The audio output will either be FIXED or VARIABLE.

Note: Variable audio output on your TV allows you to continue to use your

TV’s remote control to adjust the listening volume. A headphone output,

if available, can often be used as a variable audio output with a suitable

connection cable. If your TV’s audio output is fixed, then use the ZVOX 430’s

remote control.

Note: A universal or programmable/learning remote can be substituted

to control the 430, your TV and other connected devices. The ZVOX 430

will respond to the following preprogrammed audio remote codes: Candle

1004/Hisense 1237/Aiwa 1036.

ZVOX 430 Connectors

INPUT 1 jacks: Use to connect a TV, PC or other audio source
INPUT 2 jacks: Use this input only after INPUT 1 has an audio source.

Audio on this input mixes with the audio from INPUT 1.
OUTPUT: The output of this jack is full range monaural audio. It can be

connected to an external powered subwoofer, should one be available. If

possible, set the subwoofer’s crossover (sometimes labeled “Low Pass”) to

90 Hz, then adjust the subwoofer’s output to blend well with the ZVOX 430.

remote Control

Insert the AAA batteries into the remote control.
Turn on the ZVOX 430 by pushing the POWER button on the remote

control. A blue light should appear on the front of the ZVOX 430.

Operating the ZVOX 430

The ZVOX remote control has “+” and “-” buttons to control four ranges.

VOLUME | SUBWOOFER | TREBLE | PHASECUE

The blue light on the speaker will blink with each adjustment step up or

down. It will stop blinking when the maximum or minimum setting has

been reached.

1 VOLUME: IF yOUR AUDIO SOURCE

HAS A VARIABLE LEVEL OUTPUT:

First, set the volume on the TV (or other

audio source) to about 3/4 of its full range.

Then adjust the ZVOX 430 remote’s

VOLUME buttons until the output is as

loud as you require. From this point

forward, use the TV remote to control

the volume. Use the ZVOX remote as

required to adjust the remaining qualities

(Subwoofer, Treble and PhaseCue).

IF yOUR AUDIO SOURCE HAS A FIXED

LEVEL OUTPUT: Adjust the ZVOX 430

remote’s VOLUME buttons as desired.

When the MUTE button is pushed, the

speaker output is silenced and a blue

light will blink until output is restored

with another press of the MUTE button.

2 SUBWOOFER: Adjust the bass output

of the ZVOX 430 as desired. The control

has nine steps. Most users will find a single

setting that works for most audio programs.

3 TREBLE: Adjust as desired. Nine

adjustment steps are available and the

difference between each step is small.

Most users will find a single setting that

works for most audio programs.

4 PHASECUE: Adjust the level of virtual

surround with these two buttons. As you

increase the PhaseCue level, the apparent soundfield will expand well

beyond the left and right of the ZVOX 430. The effect is most obvious

with DVD movies and live action TV programming. News broadcasts,

talk shows and sitcoms do not have much stereo content. PhaseCue

may have little or no effect on these programs.

Note: If you find that crowd noise or movie special effects are

“drowning out” the dialog, try turning down the PhaseCue level.

This will restore clarity to dialog.
