Chapter 4: Maintaining The DR LEAF and LAWN VACUUM

Regular maintenance is the way to ensure the best performance and long life of your machine. Please refer to this manual and the
engine manufacturer's owner's manual for maintenance procedures. Service intervals listed in the checklist below supersede
those listed in the engine manufacturer's owner's manual.

Changing Engine Oil

Check engine oil level regularly - WHILE THE UNIT IS IN A LEVEL POSITION.
Check the oil before each usage. Stop engine and wait several minutes before
checking oil level. With engine level, the oil must be about a 1/4 inch below the
top of the yellow oil fill cap opening. Change oil after the first five hours of
operation and every 25 hours thereafter. Refer to the engine manual enclosed
with this unit for additional information on your engine.

Replacing the Chipper Blade

Tools and Supplies Needed:

Two 1/2" Wrenches

3/16" Allen Wrench

1. Remove the four Hand Knobs that secure the Vacuum Snout and remove

the Snout (Figure 24).

2. Remove the Bolts, Lock Washers and Flat Washers that secure the Discharge

Tube and set the Tube back out of the way.

3. Remove the two Bolts and Spacers from the bottom of the Housing (Figure

25).

4. Remove the ten remaining Bolts and Wiznuts from the Housing.

NOTE: Two of the Bolts and Wiznuts hold the Safety Switch Bracket in place.
Simply move the Bracket to the side with the wires still attached.

Before performing any maintenance procedure, shut off the engine, wait for all moving parts to come to a complete stop, and
disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug.
