Inspecting and Replacing Consumables
Part Verify Action if defective
Shield • Center hole is round. Replace
• Side holes not blocked Replace
Shielded • Threads are undamaged Replace
Cap • Internal o-ring is in place and Replace
undamaged
Torch O-ring • No damage or wear Replace
• Lubricated Apply a thin film of silicone lubricant
Swirl Ring • No damage or wear Replace
• Side holes not blocked Replace
• O-ring inside of front opening Replace
is undamaged
Electrode • Center surface not pitted more Replace
than 1/16" (1.5 mm) deep
Nozzle • Center hole is round. Replace
• Side holes not blocked Replace
Cap • O-ring inside of front opening Replace
is undamaged
Correct Alignment of
Consumables
Check the torch safety switch: Listen
for a “click” when the cap is replaced
on the torch.
Note: Hand-tighten only
