Scenario 2: Gradual Replacement
In this scenario, the migration from the 3745 to the FEP-4600 does not occur
immediately, and it is desired to continue to run the 3745 for a period of time along side
the FEP-4600 that is replacing it. In this scenario the FEP-4600 may be configured with 2
subareas. For the remote link that it appears as an NCP to, it is configured to appear as
subarea 04 the same as the 3745. To the ESCON attached VTAM it appears to be a new
subarea (SA05).
