Chapter 5 Removing and replacing FRUs

If the faulty motherboard was a Type III motherboard:

1. Cable as illustrated. No additional instructions are needed. Install the existing USB

RS-422 adapters back into rear panel slots 1 and 7.

2. Install the remaining components and the top cover.

3. Refer to the checklist at the beginning of this section for the remaining steps to

complete the motherboard replacement process.

If the faulty motherboard was a Type II motherboard:

1. Cable as illustrated. No additional instructions are needed. Install the existing PCI

RS-422 adapter back into rear panel slot 3.

2. Install the remaining components and the top cover.

3. Refer to the checklist at the beginning of this section for the remaining steps to

complete the motherboard replacement process.

If the faulty motherboard was a Type I motherboard and you are replacing it in a SDA-00 or SD-00
K2 Media Client:

1. Remove and discard the USB cable that previously connected the front SCSI

interface board and the Type I motherboard.

2. To make the connection between the front SCSI interface board and the

motherboard, use the USB cable that comes with the Type III motherboard
replacement kit.

3. To make the Power 2 connection to the motherboard, unbundle power cables and

use the spare cable that has the appropriate connector. Re-bundle power cables.

4. Retain the two dual-port RS-422 adapters and the USB cables that you removed

from the Type I motherboard. Install these adapters in rear panel slots 1 and 7.
Refer to the appropriate procedure earlier in this chapter.

5. Install the remaining components and the top cover.

6. Refer to the checklist at the beginning of this section for the remaining steps to

complete the motherboard replacement process.

If the faulty motherboard was a Type I motherboard and you are replacing it in a HD-00 K2 Media
Client:

1. Remove and discard the USB cable that previously connected the front SCSI

interface board and the Type I motherboard.

2. To make the connection between the front SCSI interface board and the

motherboard, use the USB cable that comes with the Type III motherboard
replacement kit.

3. To make the Power 2 connection to the motherboard, use the power cable that was

previously connected to the HD-00 codec board.

4. Locate the power cable adapter that comes with motherboard replacement kit.

5. Unbundle power cables and connect the large end of the power cable adapter to the

spare cable that has the appropriate connector. Re-bundle power cables.

6. Retain the two dual-port RS-422 adapters and the USB cables that you removed
