CHOKE LINKAGE INSTALLATION

Edelbrock choke linkage kits are for use with Performer manifolds. Choke Kit
#1931 fits small-block Chevy Performers with divorced choke carbs #1901 &
#1902; Choke Kit #1935 fits big-block Chevy Performers with divorced choke
carbs #1901 & #1902. Figure 1 shows typical divorced choke linkage used on
Q-Jet carburetors #1901 and #1902. The metal housing which snaps in place
over the choke coil on manifold has been left off to show choke rod/coil
relationship. The metal housing should be installed on your engine, as it
retains the choke rod in the coil. The opening at the top of the metal housing
faces towards the front on small-block Chevys and to the rear on big-blocks.

CHOKE LINKAGE ADJUSTMENT

With the engine completely cold, operate the throttle arm to unload the linkage
before checking choke blade position. Adjust the choke rod length as shown
in Figure 1 until the choke blade just closes. Bending the choke rod to shorten
it will open the choke sooner; lengthening the choke rod will make the choke
stay on longer. It is best to remove the choke rod before bending it. Do not
stretch or alter the bi-metallic spring; all adjustment can be done with the
choke rod. Be sure to install the metal housing (not shown) before driving
vehicle. After initial adjustment, you may want to fine tune the choke rod
length to suit local conditions and your driving preferences.
