Fuel Filter Inspection and
Replacement

SERVICING YOUR OUTBOARD MOTOR

Water or sediment accumulation in
the filter can cause loss of power or
hard starting. To prevent engine
malfunction, inspect the filter and
replace when necessary.

The fuel filter (inside the strainer
cup) is located between the fuel
pump and the water separator.

Squeeze and release the priming
bulb to fill the vapor separator, and
check for leaks.

If the buzzer sounds or excessive
water or sediment accumulation are
found in the fuel filter, inspect the
fuel tank.

Clean the fuel tank and tank filter if
necessary. It may be necessary to
drain the fuel tank completely and
refill with fresh gasoline.
