The Model G9744Z has four speed settings—114,
196, 288, and 377 feet per minute (FPM). Refer
to the chart on

Page 23 for cutting speed recom-

mendations by material type.

To change blade speeds:

1. UNPLUG THE BANDSAW!

2. Open the belt cover.

3. With one hand, support the weight of the

motor. With the other hand, loosen the belt
tension knob (see

Figure 20). The motor will

drop and the V-belt will slacken.

Drive Wheel

The speed at which the saw blade will cut through
a workpiece is controlled by blade type, feed rate,
and feed pressure. The feed rate is controlled by
two knobs on the control panel.

Note: If a lubricant is used on the cut, the feed
rate can be increased by approximately 15%.

To set the feed rate:

1. Raise the bow to the highest position.

2. Set the "Feed Rate Dial" in Figure 22 to the

desired feed rate—0 (slowest), 9 (fastest).

4. Move the V-belt to the desired pulley combi-

nation (see

Figure 21).

5. Lift the motor to tension the belt and tighten

the belt tension knob.

6. Close the belt cover.

3. Turn the feed control knob to the left to

lower the bow at the feed rate you have set.
Turning the knob to the right locks the bow in
position.
