This section explains how to prepare your printer for offline
printing and enter data. Offline printing means entering batch
data from the keypad and printing batches. There are three
standard formats included with your printer. See "Using the
Standard Formats" for more information.

You can enter numbers, letters, and a variety of symbols
(including punctuation and international characters). International
characters are available by pressing P and code numbers.
See Appendix B for more information.

You can switch between character and numeric mode at any time
by pressing the s key.

For offline printing, send the format to the printer first. You can
send several offline formats to the printer. If the formats are
stored in flash memory, they remain when the printer is turned off.
Do not send packets with the same number to flash memory. If
two packets with the same number are stored in flash, only the
last packet sent is used. Refer to the Packet Reference Manual
for more information.

You must be in numeric mode to enter numbers. If a caret (^)
appears in the upper right corner of the printer display, press s
to remove. If no caret appears in the upper right corner, you are
ready to enter numbers.

To enter numeric data, press the alphanumeric key that shows the
number you want. The screen displays the number, and the
cursor moves to the next position in the field. This is also how
you enter a period (.), comma (,), dollar sign ($) or pound sign (#).

You can switch back to character mode at any time by pressing
s. Each time you press this key, the mode switches from one to
the other.
