9-6. Troubleshooting Tables

A. Welding

Trouble

Remedy

Low or no weld output; generator pow-

er output okay at ac receptacles.

Check control settings.

Check weld connections.

Check fuse F1, and replace if open (see Section 9-5).

Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check brushes, slip rings, integrated rectifiers SR2 and SR3,

and main rectifier SR1.

No weld output or generator power out-

put at ac receptacles.

Be sure all equipment is disconnected from receptacles when starting unit.

Check fuses F1 and F2, and replace if open (see Section 9-5).

Check plug PLG6 connection.

Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check brushes, slip rings, and integrated rectifiers SR2, SR3.

Low weld output.

Check control settings.

Check fuse F1, and replace if open (see Section 9-5).

Check engine speed, and adjust if necessary (see Section 9-4).

Service air cleaner (see Section 8-2)

Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check brushes, slip rings, and integrated rectifiers SR2, SR3.

High weld output.

Check control settings.

Check engine speed, and adjust if necessary (see Section 9-4).

Erratic weld output.

Check control settings.

Tighten and clean connections to electrode and workpiece.

Use dry, properly-stored electrodes for Stick and TIG welding.

Remove excessive coils from weld cables.

Clean and tighten connections both inside and outside welding generator.

Check engine speed, and adjust if necessary (see Section 9-4).

Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check brushes, slip rings, and integrated rectifiers SR2, SR3.

B. Generator Power

Trouble

Remedy

No or low generator power output at ac

receptacles; weld output okay

Reset supplementary protectors (see Section 7-1).
