Setting the Audio Output

DOWNMIX

Use this function to create stereo (2-channel) signals from Dolby Digital sources
recorded on DVDs. This setting affects the outputs of the AUDIO jack.

Dolby

Surround

Select this when the connected audio component supports
Dolby Surround (Pro Logic).

NORMAL

Select this when the connected audio component does not
support Dolby Surround (Pro Logic).

DIGITAL OUT
SETUP

You can set the mode of the digital signals output from the OPTICAL OUT jack.

Dolby Digital

Dolby Digital Select this when connecting an audio

component with a built-in Dolby Digital
decoder.

DOWNMIX

PCM

Select this when connecting an audio
component without a built-in Dolby Digital
decoder.

DTS

DTS

Select this when connecting an audio
component with a built-in DTS decoder.

PCM

Select this when connecting an audio
component without a built-in DTS decoder.

48kHz/96kHz
PCM

48kHz

Select this when the PCM signal is output at
48 kHz.

96kHz

Select this when the PCM signal is output at
96 kHz.

AUDIO DRC

Makes the sound clear when the volume is turned down when playing a DVD that
conforms to “Audio DRC” (Dynamic Range Control). (Thanks to the dynamic
range compression, the volume of quiet sound is maintained.) Select the level to
your convenience. This setting affects the outputs of the AUDIO jack.

STANDARD

No DRC effects.

WIDE

RANGE

Produces powerful sound. More effective with high quality
speakers.
