functions, such as Stop or Search
Playback.

 With some discs, you cannot activate these functions.

The language for the title/chapter
cannot be changed when you play
a DVD.

 Multilingual titles are not recorded on the DVD.
 Changing the language for the title is prohibited on the DVD.

The subtitle language cannot be
changed when you play a DVD.

 Multilingual subtitles are not recorded on the DVD.
 Changing the language for the subtitle is prohibited on the

DVD.

The subtitle cannot be turned off
when you play a DVD.

 Depending on the DVD, you may not be able to turn the

subtitle off.

The angles cannot be changed
when you play a DVD.

 Change the angles at a scene recorded with multiple angles (

page 36).

 Multi-angles are not recorded on the DVD.
 Changing the angles is prohibited on the DVD.

Movies/Still images

Symptom

There is no picture.

 Set the LINE SELECT switch to OUT ( page 23).

Picture noise appears.

 Dirty or defective disc.
 The player is used in the place subject to severe vibration.

The aspect ratio of the picture is
incorrect.

 Press LCD MODE/BRT repeatedly to select the correct aspect

ratio (

 page 39).

The picture is not displayed in the
ratio selected in [TV TYPE].

 The aspect ratio is fi xed to either letterbox or panscan on the

disc.

JPEG fi les cannot be displayed.
JPEG fi les are not displayed
correctly.

 The fi le extension “.jpg” is not added to the fi le name

(

 page 11).

 Files are not stored in JPEG format.

JPEG fi les take longer to play back
than others.

 The following discs take a longer time to start playback.

– a disc recorded with a complicated tree structure.
– a disc to which data can be added.

Some stationary green, blue or red
dots may appear on the screen.

 These are called bright dots, and can happen with any LCD.

The LCD panel is highly sophisticated, and more than 99.99%
of the segments used in the panel are fl awless. However, there
is a possibility that less than 0.01% of the segments is defective
and may not light up properly.
