TROUBLESHOOTING

If you have a problem with your camera or cannot take good pictures, consult
the list below as you check the camera before requesting repairs.

No indication on the top LCD panel

Batteries are exhausted.

►Replace the batteries. (P.19–21)

Batteries are improperly installed.

►Insert the batteries in the proper direction. (P.19–21)

The shutter does not release

Batteries are exhausted.

►Replace the batteries. (P.19–21)

D-dial is set outside of the Drive Area.

►Set the D-dial to the Drive Area to take a picture. (P.46)

Camera is unable to get a focus lock when set to AF-S mode.

►Try focusing on a different subject or focus the camera manually. (P.43–45)

CF card is not inserted or is inserted improperly.

►Insert the CF card correctly. (P.27)

The camera is busy writing to the CF card.

►Please wait until the CF card busy light goes off. (P.33)

CF card is full.

►Insert a new CF card or delete unwanted images. (P.77–79)

Autofocus does not operate

The AF/M switch on the lens body is set to M.

►Set the AF/M switch on the lens to AF. (P.43)

Lens is not properly mounted to the camera body.

►Mount the lens to the camera body correctly. (P.23,24)

The buttons on the back of the camera don’t work

Auto Power Off is activated.

►Press the shutter button halfway to reactivate the buttons.
►Disable Auto Power Off in the Set-up Menu. (P.96,98)
