System conversion is the most complex digital process undertaken by the Worldwide VCR, converting
the “input” into a different “output”, eg from NTSC to PAL, or from PAL to SECAM. One of the most useful functions of the Worldwide VCR is the combination of tape duplication and
system conversion, more simply known as “Tape Conversion”. This allows the user to copy, for
example, a SECAM tape and simultaneously convert it to PAL or NTSC. This is particularly useful for
duplicating home video camcorder recordings and sending them to friends or relatives abroad.
