19.1.1 Programming the MMSI

WARNING

User MMSI can be input only twice. If the user tries to input an MMSI more than twice,
the radio will show the display on the right. If the user needs to change the MMSI
more than twice, the transceiver will have to be sent to Factory Service. Refer to the
section “23.1 FACTORY SERVICE.”

1. Select the chart page and press the [MENU] key two times. Move the ShuttlePoint knob

to highlight RADIO SETUP and press [ENT] or move the ShuttlePoint knob to the right.

2. Move the ShuttlePoint knob to highlight DSC SETTINGS and press [ENT] or move the

ShuttlePoint knob to the right.

3. Move the ShuttlePoint knob to highlight USER MMSI and press [ENT] or move the

ShuttlePoint knob to the right.

4. Enter your MMSI (up to nine digits) from the keypad.
5. Press the [ENT] to store the number in memory.
6. Press [CLR] until the menu disappears or an easier method is to move the ShuttlePoint

knob to the left a few times.

19.2 DSC DISTRESS CALL

The CPV550 is capable of transmitting and receiving DSC Distress messages from all DSC
radios. The CPV550 will transmit the Latitude, Longitude of the vessel if the GPS has a fix.

19.2.0 Transmitting a DSC Distress Call

NOTE

To be able to transmit a DSC distress call an MMSI number must be programmed, refer to section

“19.1.1 Programming the MMSI.” In order for your ships location to be transmitted a GPS antenna

must be connected to the CPV550, refer to section “2.3 MOUNTING THE GPS WASS SMART

ANTENNA.”

1. Lift the red spring loaded DISTRESS cover and press [DISTRESS]. “DISTRESS

ALERT” popup window will appear on the display.

2. Press and hold the [DISTRESS] key. The radios display will count down (3-2-1) and

then transmit the Distress call.
