Caution:
In the following cases, the timer recording function will
not work.
When recording on a MiniDisc:
● When a MiniDisc has not been inserted.
● When a playback-only MiniDisc is inserted.
● When the MiniDisc you inserted is protected against
accidental erasure.
● When there is no recording space left on the Mini-
Disc you have inserted (when the "TOC FULL
∗ " or
"DISC FULL" messages appear).
When recording on a tape:
● When no tape is inserted.
● When the tape is protected against accidental erasure.

Sleep operation
The radio, compact disc and MiniDisc can all be turned
off automatically.

Play the desired sound source.

Press the SLEEP button.
● "SLEEP" will flash.
● If you do not need to change the time, go to step
3.
To change the sleep time:
Whilst the sleep time is displayed, turn the jog dial to
adjust the time.
(Maximum: 2 hours - Minimum: 1 minute)
The amount of sleep time can also be changed during
the sleep operation. (1-minute intervals)

Press the ENTER button.

The unit will enter the stand-by mode automatically
after the preset sleep time has elapsed.
To cancel the sleep operation:
Press the ON/STAND-BY button to enter the stand-by
mode.
The sleep operation can also be cancelled as follows if
you can not set the unit to the stand-by mode during
recording.

Press the SLEEP button.
● "SLEEP" will flash.

Within 5 seconds, press the SLEEP button again.
● The sleep operation will be cancelled. ("SLEEP" will
go off.)
Notes:
● Once the sleep time is set, it will remain the same
duration until the setting is changed.
● The sleep functions of this unit cannot be used to
control equipment connected to this unit. You must
use the sleep functions of the other equipment, if it
has them.

To use sleep and timer playback in combination:

Perform steps 1 - 12 on page 44 "Timer playback".

To use sleep and timer recording in combination:

● The sleep timer will perform timer playback or timer recording
from the source you are listening to, until the power is turned
