Walkie-Talkie mode

This function enables handsets (Gigaset 4000 Com-
fort) to communicate outside the range of the base sta-
tion. In Walkie-Talkie mode, handsets are no longer
available for incoming calls.

Example:
Two friends are in a department store and each has a
handset with the Walkie-Talkie mode active. They can
now communicate with each other free of charge.

Prerequisite for the handsets

Communication is only possible between:

O

handsets that are registered at a common base sta-
tion

and have selected this base station ie “base 1”

(see page 56)

or

O

handsets that have set “best base station” as their
base station.
Note:

All external handsets that are within range,

that have Walkie-Talkie mode set and have “best
base station” as their the base station selection will
also be called

or

O

handsets that are not registered.
Note:

All external handsets that are within range,

have the Walkie-Talkie mode set and are not regis-
tered at a base station will also be called.

Activating Walkie-Talkie mode on the handset

Open the menu.

Activate Walkie-Talkie mode.

Walkie-Talkie mode can be deactivated with the display
key .

The maximum range between handsets operat-
ed in Walkie-Talkie mode is 300 m.The operating
time of the handsets is considerably reduced.
