Troubleshooting Guide

If your unit does not perform as expected, consult the table below to see if the problem can be corrected before seeking
help from your dealer or our service organization.

PROBLEM

No power

No sound

Distorted or abnormal
sound

Vibrating sound

Too noisy

Norecording

• The AC input cord is disconnected.
• The POWER switch is not pressed

completely.

• Unrecorded tape is loaded.
• Incorrect connections.
• Incorrect operation of the amplifier.

• Dirty head.
• Incorrect selection of the Dolby NR

system.

• The tape is stretched or wrinkled.

• Dirty capstans or pinch rollers.
• The tape is irregularly wound.

• Magnetized head.
• Poor connections.

• The tabs have been removed.
• The REC LEVEL control is set to “0”
• Dirty head.

• Connect the cord securely.
• Press the POWER switch to ON.

• Load the recorded tape.
• Make connections correctly.
• Operate the amplifier correctly.

• Clean the head.
• Select the corresponding Dolby NR

system or OFF.

• Replace the tape.

• Clean the capstans or pinch rollers.
• Wind the tape by advancing or

rewinding rapidly.

• Demagnetize the head.
• Check the connections and connect all

cords securely.

• Cover with the adhesive tape.
• Set the REC LEVEL control properly.
• Clean the head.
