Chapter 7: Configuring Communications

Introduction

7.1 Introduction

Before you can use Internet Explorer (the Internet browser) and Inbox (the e-mail
application), or the optional 802.11 or GSM/GPRS radios on your netpad, some
basic configuration is necessary.

For instructions on setting up the 802.11 radio, please refer to “802.11 Radio Con-
figuration”
, below.

For details on setting up the modem for GSM/GPRS, please see “GSM/GPRS
Modem Configuration” on page 68.

For instructions on using Internet Explorer and Inbox, please refer to “Internet And
E-Mail Settings” on page 75.

7.2 802.11 Radio Configuration

The following are the basic settings necessary to be able to run the netpad on an
802.11 radio network.

1. When the netpad is turned on, the radio configuration icon should be in

the system tray. It may take a few minutes to appear. The configuration
dialogue will also display.
