CORE rechargeable battery for TIKKA

2

range

Li-Ion rechargeable battery, compatible with the TIKKA

2

range of

headlamps.

Capacity: 900 mAh.

Recharge your battery with a USB 5 V output charger.

Charge it completely before first use.

The Li-Ion battery loses 10 % of its capacity per year. It can be

recharged 300 times (after 300 times, it will still have 70 % of its

original capacity).

Use the battery at temperatures between -30° C and +60° C.

Electromagnetic compatibility

Conforms to the requirements of the 89/336/CEE directive on

electromagnetic compatibility.

Warning, an avalanche beacon in receive (find) mode can experience

interference when in proximity to your CORE battery. In case of

interference (indicated by static noise from the beacon), move the

beacon away from the rechargeable battery.

Nomenclature of parts

(1) Energy gauge, (2) Battery contacts, (3) USB A/micro B cable,

(4) USB micro B port.

Charging the battery

Recharge only with a USB 5 V charger, for example:

- Computers (they must be turned on and in use).

- Solar panels with a USB 5 V output (preferably panels delivering at

least 5 W or 1 A for faster charging).

- PETZL CORE E93110 charger (allows charging from 110-220 V wall

socket or car cigar-lighter socket).

You can charge your battery separately from the lamp.

Warning

Recharge only with a USB A/micro B cable. The charger’s

output voltage must not exceed 5 V. Never recharge using the

battery contacts: risk of explosion and/or fire.

Charge time is three hours. The charge time can be longer if the

power delivered by the charger is insufficient.

During charging, one of the energy gauge’s three bars blinks every

second. The color of the blinking bar indicates the battery’s charge

level:

- Red: Battery charged 0 to 33 %.

- Orange: Battery charged 33 to 66 %.

- Green: Battery charged 66 to 100 %.

When charging is complete, the green bar on the energy gauge is

constantly lit.

If the blinking is slower (every three seconds), this means that the

power delivered by the charger is insufficient; the charge time will

be longer.

- Batteries should always be charged at a temperature between 0 °C

and 40 °C to avoid battery deterioration.

Charging indicator

You can verify the battery charge level by turning on your lamp. One

of the energy gauge bars is constantly lit:

- green bar: battery charged 66 to 100 %.

- orange bar: battery charged 33 to 66 %.

- red bar: battery charged 20 to 33 %.

When the red bar is blinking (battery charged 0 to 20 %), the battery

should be recharged. The lamp will also blink as a reminder to

recharge.

Attention: if you use your TIKKA PLUS, ZIPKA PLUS or TIKKA XP

lamp with the CORE rechargeable battery, the battery charge

indicator on your lamp is no longer valid.

Lighting performance - battery life

See lighting performance table for the different lamps.

Initially, your CORE rechargeable battery is programmed in non-

regulated mode.

By downloading the OS by Petzl software from our site at www.petzl.

com/CORE, you can:

- change the operating mode of your battery (regulated/non

regulated,

- change the power delivered by the battery and thus change the

battery life of your lamp.

Battery life diminishes markedly below 0 °C.

Precautions

Device not recommended for children

WARNING, incorrect use can damage the battery.

- Do not unplug the USB cable from the computer when you are

using the OS by Petzl software.

- Do not submerge the battery in water.

- Do not put the battery in a fire.

- Do not destroy the battery, it can explode or release toxic materials.

If your device is damaged, do not dismantle it or change its structure.

Retire your battery if its casing is broken or cracked.

In case of malfunction

Inspect the battery contacts for corrosion. If corroded, gently scrape

the contacts clean without deforming them. Check the USB A/micro B

cable connections.

If your battery still does not work, contact Petzl.

Maintenance

If used in a damp environment, remove the battery from the lamp

and dry it, leaving the lamp and USB port cover open. If your battery

comes into contact with sea water, rinse with fresh water and dry it

with the lamp open.

Storage, transport

It is preferable to carry your battery in the lamp, and take care to

store it in a dry place at temperatures between -20° C and 40° C.

Before long-term storage, it is preferable to recharge the battery to

50 % (repeat this step every two months).

Protecting the environment

Lamps and batteries should be recycled. Do not throw them in

the regular trash. Dispose of these items by recycling them in
