Installing the Flux Shifter
Use the following procedure to install the new flux shifter. The
breaker should still be resting on its back from the previous
procedure (Breaker Preparation). The flux shifters supplied for
the LA-600 and LA-1600 kits are slightly different, but the installa-
tion process is the same for both. Where appropriate, both
models are shown.
1.
From the right side of the breaker, insert the long screw
supplied with the kit through the lower flux shifter mounting
hole in the breaker frame. Place the two supplied spacers
over the flux shifter mounting screws, with the shorter one
over the upper (existing) stud, as shown in Figure 5.
2.
Working from the top of the breaker, insert the new reset
arm mounting pin supplied with the kit through the same
bracket and mechanism holes as the pin removed earlier,
with the hole in the flux shifter reset arm mounting on the left
end of the pin, as shown in Figure 6. Secure with the
supplied retaining rings.
3.
Mount the flux shifter over the studs and spacers and secure
with the hardware removed from the existing stud and with
the nut and washers supplied with the new mounting screw,
as shown in Figure 7.
4.
Mount the new trip paddle on the flat on the trip shaft, as
shown in Figure 7, secured with the existing eye bolt and the
lock washer and nut removed previously.
5.
Reconnect the return spring between the pin on the breaker
frame and the eye bolt on the trip shaft, as shown in Figure
7.
