APPENDIX A HYDRAULIC HOOK-UPS

7

Hydraulic and electrical schematics, along with field installation drawings are shipped
in electrical control boxes.

A1.

NEW POWERHOLD INSTALLATION WITH POWERAMP HORIZONTALLY STORED
DOCK LEVELER.

1.

Refer to hydraulic schematic in Table A.

2.

Two 24" hose assemblies are supplied to provide a flexible connection when
the dock leveler is operated. Shut off valves are provided at the end of the
flexible hoses to isolate the POWERHOLD hydraulic system. Run hard piping
between these valves and the POWERHOLD. A shroud on the POWERHOLD is
held in place by two screws which when removed, allow access to the
appropriate fittings. After completing the piping, open both valves.

3.

Remove access plate on the dock leveler and add to hydraulic system whatever
amount of hydraulic oil is needed to fill tank to within 2" of the top of tank when
the leveler is in the stored (level) position. After initial operation of the
POWERHOLD unit, add approximately one quart of oil to replace oil used to fill
and activate POWERHOLD cylinder and hydraulic lines.

A2.

NEW POWERHOLD INSTALLATION WITH POWERAMP VERTICALLY STORED
DOCK LEVELER.

1.

Refer to hydraulic schematic in Table A.

2.

Two 24" hose assemblies are supplied to provide a flexible connection when
the dock leveler is operated. Shut off valves are provided at the end of the
flexible hoses to isolate the POWERHOLD hydraulic system. Run hard piping
between these valves and the POWERHOLD. A shroud on the POWERHOLD is
held in place by two screws which, when removed, allow access to the
appropriate fittings. After completing the piping, open both valves.

3.

Add to hydraulic system whatever amount of hydraulic oil is needed to fill tank to
"full" indicator when the leveler is in the stored position. After initial operation of
the POWERHOLD unit, add approximately one quart of oil to replace oil used to
fill and activate POWERHOLD cylinder and hydraulic lines.

A3.

RETROFIT POWERHOLD INSTALLATION WITH EXISTING POWERAMP
HORIZONTALLY STORED DOCK LEVELER.

1.

Refer to hydraulic schematic in Table A.

2.

Assure hydraulic valve assembly (part no. 8585-0010) is mounted on motor
mounting plate.

3.

Two 24" hose assemblies are supplied to provide a flexible connection when
the dock leveler is operated. Run hard piping between these hoses and the
POWERHOLD. A shroud on the POWERHOLD is held in place by two screws
which, when removed, allow access to the appropriate fittings.

4.

Disconnect the hose assembly (28" long) at the connection on the bottom of the
tank. Oil will leak out. Be prepared to connect hose assembly (21-3/4" long) to
minimize the loss of oil. Reconnect hose assembly to fitting on hydraulic valve.

5.

Disconnect hose assembly (21-3/4" long) at the connection near the middle of
the tank/pump/motor and reconnect on the hydraulic valve.

6.

Connect hose assembly.
