Formaldehyde Samplers

For a list of Laboratories, go to www.skcinc.com.

Include the following information when sending your samplers to be analyzed.

Uptake rate (μg/ppm-hr) and Standard deviation (μg)

This data is serial number specifi c and appears on the labels in the package.

Personal Samplers Catalog Nos. 526-200 (STEL) and 526-201 (PEL)

1. Remove sampler from bag.

2. Record date, start time, temperature, and ID number on the sampler label.

5. Record date, stop time, and temperature on label.

6. Send sampler(s) to an accredited laboratory (see www.skcinc.com for lab list) for analysis using the chromotropic acid assay

method. Samples should be analyzed with 30 days of exposure. For more details, contact SKC Technical Support at 724-941-9701
or go to www.skcinc.com.

Note: SKC STEL Samplers are designed to measure the formaldehyde STEL in the U.S. of 2 ppm. These samplers do not have the
sensitivity required to detect the ACGIH TLV

®

Ceiling value of 0.3 ppm with a 15-minute sample.

Note: If sampling in an atmosphere containing formalin, see www.skcinc.com/instructions/1795.pdf, Reference 2.

Area Sampler Catalog No. 526-100

1. Remove all materials from the Formaldehyde kit.

• 2 samplers

• 2 mounting pins

• 2 identifi cation labels

2. Decide where to hang the sampler. For buildings with a large indoor area or with more than one fl oor, use more than one sampler.

3. Complete identifi cation labels for each sampler. Record location, start date, and start time (circling AM or PM). Then, place a label

on each sampler.

4. Remove the cap from the sampler and place it on the opposite end of the vial to start the test. Hang the sampler by pushing the

mounting pin through the ribbon and into the mounting surface (e.g., door jamb, ceiling). Make sure that the sampler is at least

5. Leave sampler hanging undisturbed for 120 - 168 hours (5 - 7 days).

6. Remove sampler, place the cap tightly over the open end, and record the stop date and stop time (circling AM or PM) on the

sampler label when test period is over. Repeat for each sampler.

7. Send sampler(s) to an accredited laboratory (see www.skcinc.com for lab list) for analysis using the chromotropic acid assay

method. Samples should be analyzed within 30 days of exposure. For more details, contact SKC Technical Support at
724-941-9701 or go to www.skcinc.com.

Note: The linear measuring range for 526-100 samplers is 0.01 to 3.0 ppm.

Note: If sampling in an atmosphere containing formalin, see www.skcinc.com/instructions/1795.pdf, Reference 2.
