1 General Information
1.1 Information about the user manual
This document describes the operation of the Pearl OEM Camera and Camera Core products for
users of any experience level using infrared imaging. The basic operation and major components
are discussed for a new user to control all of the operating functions of the camera. The
experienced user will find the operational details to adjust critical settings of the detector and
Pearl OEM Camera in order to suit the needs of various applications.

Note: The note symbol indicates tips and useful information in this manual. All notes
should be read to effectively operate the instrument.
Warnings and Cautions: The general warnings and cautions symbol signifies the
potential for bodily harm or damage to equipment.
1.2 Documentation Resources
1.2.1 Pearl User Manual
This User Manual is the initial introduction to the operation of the Pearl OEM Camera and
Camera Core products. No prior knowledge of infrared imaging is required to use this manual.
The Pearl Control Software (PCS) included with the Pearl OEM Camera provides a graphical user
interface to control the operation of the Pearl OEM Camera. The operation of the user interface
and procedures to perform standard camera operations are covered in the Pearl Control
Software Manual.
External control of the Pearl OEM Camera is available through an RS232 interface.
1.2.2 Additional Referenced Documentation
Additional Data Sheets and Manuals are referenced to describe specific areas in greater detail. A
brief description of these manuals is provided below.
Pearl Control Software Manual and Quick-Start Guide
While the Pearl OEM Camera is capable of being used without a host computer controller, PCS is
an application that provides a computer interface into the control settings of the camera. This
software may be used to optimize the performance of your camera.
1.3 Regulatory Information
This section describes how the Infrared camera complies with regulations in certain regions. Any
modifications to the infrared camera not expressly approved by the manufacturer could void the
authority to operate the infrared camera in these regions.

This instrument is prohibited to be resold, loaned, or taken out of the USA unless an
export license has been obtained from the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Any violation can result in severe criminal penalties.
