Extending Cache Memory and LUs Using the On-Demand
Storage Functions

IMPORTANT:

The On-Demand storage functions involve array configuration changes as well as additional charges
for the changes. HP recommends that you assign permission for On-Demand storage functions to
specific user accounts only.

NOTE:

The On-Demand panel is inaccessible to storage partition administrators.

The arrays are equipped with additional cache memory and LUs that are ordinarily not available to
the user. Access to this additional capacity is available through the On-Demand storage functions,
by which you can specifically request the use of some or all of the additional capacity. Once this
additional capacity is released, the additional memory and LUs are available for normal use. You
can set the On-Demand storage functions using the XP Remote Web Console PC, as described in this
section. The On-Demand storage functions can also be set by your HP account support representative
on a fee-for-service basis. Contact your HP account support representative for additional information.

IMPORTANT:

Once you have extended the cache memory or the LUs using the On-Demand storage functions, you
will not be able to undo your request, and you will be charged for access to the additional capacity.

On-Demand Pane

The On-Demand panel lets you extend the number of LUs and cache memory using the On-Demand
storage functions. To open the On-Demand panel, click Install in the XP Remote Web Console's left
panel. Click the On-Demand tab.
