Extending LUs Using the On-Demand Storage LUN Function

To extend LUNs on the array:

1.

Log on with the user ID of a storage administrator to open the XP Remote Web Console main

pane.

2.

Change to Modify mode.

3.

Click the Install tab in the left pane.

4.

Click the On-Demand tab.

5.

Check the CU group drop-down list at the top of the XP Remote Web Console main pane. If

“CU00 - 3F” (which is CU group 0) is not selected, select “CU00 - 3F” to change the pane.

6.

In the Parity Group column in the LUN On-Demand List, select the desired parity group with the

) icon, and then right click. The Release command (see

Figure 81

) appears.

7.

Select the Release command.

8.

When a confirmation pane appears, asking you to confirm that you agree to be charged for

access to the additional parity group, click OK to agree, or click Cancel to disagree.

9.

Confirm that the ( ) icon of the selected parity group in the Parity Group column has changed
to the ( ) icon.

NOTE:

If you have changed the status of a wrong parity group by mistake, right-click on the parity group
and select the Restrict command (

Figure 82

). The ( ) icon will change back to the ( ) icon.

10.

On the XP Remote Web Console main pane, click Apply to apply the settings, or click Cancel to

exit without applying the settings. A confirmation message appears.

11.

Click OK to apply the settings, or click Cancel to cancel.

Extending Cache Memory Using On-Demand Storage Cache Function

You can extend the cache memory using the On-Demand function for cache memory.
If you have partitioned the cache memory using XP Disk Cache Partition, you can also allocate the cache

memory to each CLPR as you extend the cache memory (see

Allocating Extended Cache Memory to CLPRs

).
