If enhanced VLAN capacity is enabled for the VC Domain being added to a VC Domain Group, the VC Domain group
must also have enhanced VLAN capacity enabled.

Forward compatibility for VC firmware

VCEM enables firmware compatibility using current and future versions of VC firmware. For
example, VCEM 7.1.1 can support future VC firmware versions (when available) in compatibility
mode. This depends on the firmware mode of the VC Domain Group you are trying to add the VC
Domain with the newer VC firmware version into. See

“Backward compatibility for VC firmware

” (page 19)

and

“Performing the VC Domain maintenance operations with forward-compatible

VC firmware” (page 130)

for more information.

Selecting HP Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager ports

Before you install VCEM, check

“VCEM ports” (page 20)

to ensure you have the correct ports open

to allow communication.
