Select New. The Create Storage Pool wizard opens to the Enter storage pool parameters screen.

In the Storage Pool name field, enter a name for the storage pool. The following naming
conventions are suggested:

• Pools—Create a name that identifies the array, disk type, and VRAID level (for example,

EVA8000_FC_RAID5).

• Virtual disks—Create a name that identifies the server to which the virtual disk will be

presented and a mount point (for example, Exchange01_e).

• VDG—Create a name that identifies the server or application (for example, Exchange01_CG,

Oracle_CG).

In the Free Capacity Alert Threshold field, enter a threshold as a percentage. If the free capacity
of this storage pool drops below this threshold, a notification will be sent to any notification
groups configured to receive this type of alert. For information about configuring notification
groups, see

Configuring event log notifications

” on page 365.

In the Comment field, enter any text you want.

7.

Click Next. The Select Back-End LU(s) screen appears displaying the list of available back-end
LUs.

If you would like to select a back-end LU from a folder, navigate to the folder in the tree on the
left of the screen. The Select Back-End LU(s) screen displays the list of back-end LUs in the selected
folder.

9.

Select a back-end LU that you want to add to the storage pool. Back-end LUs that already belong
to storage pools are not selectable.

10.

Click Add. The back-end LU you selected appears in the lower section of the screen. If you want
to deselect your back-end LU, select the back-end LU in the lower section, and click Remove.

NOTE:

To build a pool using only stripe sets, skip this step without adding any back-end LUs.

11.

Repeat steps 8 through 10 to add more back-end LUs as necessary.

12.

Click Next. The Select Stripe Set(s) screen appears.

13.

Select a stripe set that you want to add to the storage pool.
