3. Mounting the chuck on the machine spindle

1. Mounting the chuck on the machine spindle

1.1 Check the machine spindle or the machine-mounted

finished-machined adapter plate for radial and axial
run-out (permissible tolerance 0,005 mm to DIN 6386
and ISO 3089).

1.2 The centre mount must be designed so that the

chuck makes full contact with the mount face.
The plate or spindle face must be perfectly flat.

1.3 Remove the locking screw (33) at front side of chuck

and press chuck mounting screws (21) inwards till
the stop.

1.4 Move draw bar fully forward.
1.5 Draw clamping piston (03) in the chuck to the left

side, in rear position (Jaws in full inward position).

1.6 Screw power chuck on until it stops at the draw bar.
1.7 Turn chuck as far back as the bore and the alignment

nut of the spindle head coincide.

1.8 Press chuck against spindle mount and tighten chuck

mounting (21) screws alternately (see picture).

1.9 Unscrew cover (06).

1.10 Adjust frontal final position of the clamping piston by

turning the tension screw (12). The clamping piston
now must be approx. 1 mm before the inner cover
face.
The clamping piston (03) must not contact the
cover during chuck actuation. –
Damaging danger!

1.11 Bolt cover (06) and check function, jaw travel and

size of the operating power.

Dismounting of the chuck in reverse sequence.

Tension screw can be reached by unscrewing the
locking screw (08).

4. Adjustment of spring package for
pull-down counterforce

1. The pull-down counterforce is adjusted on workside

to a certain minimum size. If a higher force shall be
necessary when chuck is manufactured this can be
corrected without any problem with Röhm chucks.
The ideal pull-down counterface must be found
out in a test.

2. Unscrew thread pin (31).
3. Twist adjusting bolt (09) until the necessar force is

reached.

4. Tighten thread pin (31).

Adjust all bolts to same mark and vertical
distance.

1. Unscrew cover (06).
2. Pull out clamping piston (03) to the front.
3. Pull out base jaws (02).
4. Unscrew mounting screws (23).
5. Remove flange (04) from the body (01).
6. Unscrew fixing screws (10).
7. Pull out distance screws (07).
8. Remove discs (11) and plate springs (47).

Clean and check all parts and lubricate with
Röhm grease F 80.

9. Mounting of chuck in reverse sequence.

Take care of correct numbering and position of
base jaws (02) and clamping piston (03). Take
care of correct position of plate springs (47).
See picture.
