Removing a Memory Module
Your computer may come with two memory modules already installed in the memory bay. To upgrade your memory, you
may need to remove a module before you can install an upgraded memory module(s).
To install an upgraded memory module into an empty slot, see Installing a Memory Module for instructions.
1. Turn off the computer and disconnect all peripheral devices, such as your printer.
2. Unplug the computer, and remove the battery.
3. Wait at least one hour for the computer to cool down.
4. Use an appropriate screwdriver to loosen and remove the screw that secures the cover of the memory bay on
the bottom of the computer.

5. Touch a metal object, such as the connector panel on the back of your computer, to discharge any static
electricity.
6. Pull the metal tabs that hold the memory module in place away from the module. The memory module pops up
and is released from the bay.

7. Pull the memory module gently from the memory bay.

8. Replace the memory module cover and the screw. Make sure the screw is tight enough to secure the cover.
