The dodge function is used to make a quick course change to avoid an
obstacle. Hold the PILOT key down for two seconds, a beep will sound
and the dodge message appears in the top left hand side if the display.
Release the key and press the left or right arrow keys to run the helm out.
When the arrow key is released the helm holds its current position. To
return to the original course, press PILOT.

The autotack feature produces a delayed course change which is
useful for single handed sailing. Hold the PILOT key down for the
beep after the DODGE prompt and the screen shown on the left
appears:

AUTOTACK 100

PRESS < OR >

COUTDOWN 8

AUTOTACK 100

The number on the top line shows the angle through which the vessel
will turn. This may be adjusted in the Menu (Sec 2.5).
Press one of the arrow keys for the direction of the course change
and the countdown will start. At the end of the 10 second countdown,
the vessel will steer to the new course. To cancel the autotack during
countdown, press STANDBY or PILOT. As with the course change
function, autotack will not work when in the auto-navigate mode.

If operating with a wind instrument input, the operation is slightly
different. The top line of the display shows ‘W V’ in place of the turn
angle and when it turns the new heading sets up the same relative
wind angle on the opposite side of the vessel. The turn direction is
through the shorter arc.

If a GPS receiver or other source of navigation data is connected,
the vessel can be steered to head towards a waypoint with minimum
cross-track error. Press the NAV key once to turn on auto
navigation. Press it again to turn it off.
