6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 cup buttermilk

1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 tablespoon dark corn syrup

1 cup all-purpose flour

3 tablespoons cornstarch

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup cocoa

1 tablespoon baking powder

6 tablespoons mini chocolate chips

1. Place butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat on HIGH power for 1 minute.

Remove from oven and stir. Cut solid remaining butter into smaller pieces

and mix.

Set aside, allow to cool.

2. In a medium bowl, combine dry ingredients and whisk to combine.

3. In a small bowl, combine liquid ingredients and (not hot) melted butter.

Whisk to combine.

2. Pour the liquid ingredients into the dry. Whisk together until just mixed.

Batter should be thick, but pourable.

Add buttermilk to thin batter if necessary.

4. Pour a scant 3/4 cup batter into the center of the waffle plate.

Use a knife to spread batter to all corners of the mold.

Bake waffle sticks for 3 to 4 minutes or until golden brown.

5. Repeat with remaining batter.
