module - Referring to hardware, a module is a self-contained com-
ponent.
mouse - The most popular pointing device. It was called a mouse be-
cause it more or less resembled one, with the cord being the mouse’s
tail.

NiMH battery - Batteries which are common in notebook comput-
ers and contain Nickel-Metal Hydride.

parallel port - A socket on a computer used to connect a printer or
other parallel device via the computer’s parallel interface.
parallel printer - A printer that receives information from a compu-
ter one character (letter, number, etc.) at a time.
partition - A reserved part of disk or memory that is set aside for
some purpose. New hard disks must be partitioned before they can
be formatted for the operating system, this is done with the FDISK
utility.
