Transmission Pair Configuration

The OptiProbe Transmission Analyzer can be
ordered with probe barrels which contain sapphire
windows. Shown are 1” (25.4mm) probe barrels.

These probe barrels have the bezel ends, and can
be inserted into a flow cell or side-stream cell.
Spacing must be maintained carefully for
consistent path length.

Transmission probes also can be used with
threaded spacers (included with 1-in. probe
barrels) to maintain consistent probe spacing.

Spacers come in 2, 4, 5 and 10mm sizes. Use care
when assembling, to avoid damage.

This shows a typical installation of transmission
probes in a flanged fitting.

When installing probes using Swagelok® fittings,
avoid thrust loading on the probes from the
fittings.

Always orient the spacer opening so that liquid
flows through it directly. Avoid eddies and
disruption of flow as much as possible.

When using this configuration, the reference scan is taken with the probes (and outer barrels)
installed, with the gap set to that used for analysis.

Special procedures apply for the situation where the outer barrels must be left in place in a process.
In such cases, Wavelength Linearization, Instrument Calibration, and other functions must be
performed on the probe ends only, using the calibration fixture. This is detailed on the next page. Full
instructions follow in section 7 of this manual.
