SAFETY
NOTICE
A separate electrical shutoff is required for this
instrument for safety purposes.
The shutoff must break both sides of the line (“All-
pole”) and be electrically grounded.
The shutoff box must be adjacent to the unit for
ease of shutoff for maintenance or emergency
purposes.
If your plant codes require “lockouts” on electrical
equipment, the shutoff should accommodate the
lockout devices to prevent inadvertent power-up.
The Metrohm NIRSystems process instrument includes a door interlock switch to remove instrument
power when the door is opened. For additional safety, please use a separate shutoff box as shown.
The XDS Process Analytics Instrument and all associated components have been tested for CE
(Communite European) certification. An independent, accredited laboratory is used for this testing.
CE certification is a comprehensive set of requirements that encompass user safety, immunity from
electrical interference, and low radiated electrical emissions. The requirements overlap with UL and
CSA requirements in nearly all areas. As a rule, CE certification is recognized by most countries as
acceptable for installation.
