TONGUE ASSEMBLY PULL-TYPE MOWER (FIGURE Asm-R-0077)

To assemble the mower’s tongue, follow the procedures listed below. Note: Certain assembly steps may have
been performed by the manufacturer before delivery.

1. Securely block the mower 12-18” off the ground.
2. Locate the left and right hitch ear plates (1 and 2). Position ear plates on respective sides of mower deck

and align four holes of each plate with holes of mower deck frame. When correctly positioned there will be
two holes at the top of each plate positioned away from the deck center (see diagram). Secure each ear
plate to deck frame with four 12mm x 40mm bolts (15), 12 mm flat washers (14), and 12 mm locknuts (13).

3. Insert bushings (10) into holes of tongue weldment (3) connecting arms. Position connecting arms to the

outside of the ear plates aligning the plates upper holes with arm holes and bushing. NOTE: Tongue
weldment must be positioned with the offset drop downward such that the tongue is level with the deck.
Place a washer (11) against each bushing and secure tongue to plates with 7/8” x 2” bolts (12) and 7/8”
locknuts (9).

4. Place trunion (8) inside set of tongue weldment lug holes, center trunion hole between lugs and place

bushing (7) into trunion. Insert adjusting bolt (6) through bushing and trunion and screw into 3/4” nut (16)
and leveling rod nut (17). NOTE: The opposite end of the adjusting rod is attached during the Tail Wheel
Assembly. The adjustment bolt is used to set the pitch of the mower deck and the leveling rod raises or
lowers the front and rear of the mower equal amounts when the tail wheels are raised or lowered. To raise
the front of the mower deck, screw the adjustment bolt clockwise. To lower the front of the mower, screw
the adjustment bolt counterclockwise.

5. Attach jack (4) and chain (5) onto tongue weldment.
6. Tighten all bolts and nuts per recommended torque at this time.
