Close the top cover.

Press the

CARTRIDGE

button. The cartridge holder moves to the home position and the

printer starts cleaning the print head.

Replacing BJ Cartridges

Follow this procedure to replace or exchange a BJ Cartridge.

Before you replace a worn BJ Cartridge...

When a print head becomes worn out, the printing is no longer crisp and clear, gaps may appear in
characters, and lines may appear broken or not complete. However, these and similar problems can
also be caused by a clogged print head.

Before you decide to replace the BJ Cartridge, always clean the print head to confirm that the problem
is not a clogged print head.

Print a Nozzle Check Pattern. (p45)

If the quality of the pattern is poor, clean the print head four or five

Print another Nozzle Check Pattern. If the pattern is still poor, flush the print head twice.

If print head flushing fails to correct the problem, follow the procedure below to replace the BJ
Cartridge.

Replacing a BJ Cartridge

Follow this procedure to replace the BJ Cartridge.

The Black BJ Cartridge BC-10 and Color BJ Cartridge BC-11e were designed specially for this
printer. Never attempt to use any other type of cartridge with this printer.

1.

Check the printer

POWER

lamp and make sure that it is switched on. If the printer is off,

press the

POWER

button to switch it on.

2.

Press the

CARTRIDGE

button. The cartridge holder moves to the centre and the

POWER

lamp flashes.
