Trouble Check

If you think you have a problem, double-check before calling the serviceman.

You may have overlooked something relatively simple!

Symptom

The power does not turn

on.

The battery is not attached.

Attach the battery.

The battery is exhausted.

Use a new battery.

The AC power adaptor is not connected to

a wall outlet.

Connect the adaptor to a wall outlet.

The START/STOP button

does not operate.

The tape is affixed to the drum.

Remove the cassette with the cassette

eject button.

The tape is at its end.

Rewind the tape or use a new one.

The POWER switch is set to VTR.

Set it to CAMERA.

The tab on the cassette is out (red).

Use a new cassette or slide the tab.

The tape does not move

when a tape transport

button is pressed.

The POWER switch is set to CAMERA or

OFF.

Set it to VTR.

The tape is at its end.

Rewind the tape or use a new one.

The power turns off.

While being operated in the CAMERA

mode, the recorder has been in the pause

mode for more than 5 minutes.

Slide down the STANDBY switch, and

slide it up again.

The battery is exhausted.

Use a charged battery.

A vertical band appears

when a subject such as

lights or a candle flame is

shot against a dark

background.

The contrast between the subject and

background is too high; the camera is not

malfunctioning.

The battery pack is

quickly discharged.

The ambient temperature is too low.

The battery pack has not been charged

fully.

Charge the battery pack again.

The cassette cannot be

removed from the

compartment.

The battery is exhausted.

Use the charged battery or the AC power

adaptor.

The auto focusing

function does not work.

The AUTO LOCK cover is opened.

Close the AUTO LOCK cover.

Shooting conditions are not suitable for

auto focusing operation. (See page 23.)

Open the AUTO LOCK cover and press

the FOCUS button to adjust the focus

manually.

The color of the playback

is not appropriate.

The AUTO LOCK cover is opened.

Close the AUTO LOCK cover.

Open the AUTO LOCK cover and press

the WHITE BAL button to adjust the white

balance manually.

The image on the

viewfinder screen is not

clear.

The viewfinder lens is not adjusted.

Adjust the viewfinder lens.

The playback picture is

not clear.

The EDIT switch is set in the direction of

the arrow.

Set the EDIT switch in the reversed

direction of the arrow.

The channel for the VCR is not adjusted

on the TV.

Adjust the TV.
