6. Second-Curtain Synchronization

When the 540EZ is used with an EOS camera, you can select whether to

have the flash fire as soon as fhe shutter opens (first-curtain sync) or

immediately before the shutter closes (second-curtain sync).

When using a slow shutter speed with a moving subject, second-curtain
synchronization will provide a more natural effect because the flash expo

sure occurs at the end of the subject movement rather than at the begin

ning, providing a “trailing blur’’ effect that emphasizes motion.

Second-curtain sync flash photography is not available in Full Auto (C) or

Programmed Image Control (PIC) modes.

Second-curtain sync cannot be combined with stroboscopic flash operation.
