FRU Information

The MMC provides 4 kB of non-volatile storage space for FRU information. Some of the data
stored there, such as the Module Current Requirements record or E-Keying information (refer
to AMC.0 specification for details), are mandatory for module functionality in an ATCA/AMC en-
vironment.

Please note that missing FRU information possibly will prevent the AMC module from being ac-
cepted by the carrier controller during the hot swap process, and the module will possibly not
receive payload power.

Full low-level access to read or write a module's FRU information is provided by regular IPMI
FRU Device commands. Please be careful when writing FRU information directly using stan-
dard IPMI commands. Damaging the FRU information may lead to a non-working payload.

6.1

FRU Version Identification

The FRU data fields, as defined in the IPMI specification 2.0, are used to record the version of
the FRU installed. The revision number is incremented for each new release of FRU data.

Example of board FRU ID: “STD_R01”

Example of product FRU ID: “STD_R01”

FRU Data Update

Update of the FRU data can be done via regular IPMI FRU device commands. The correct FRU
data must be prepared at the factory.
