The operator must respect the following precautions when using the
deviating mirrors:
•
The alignment of the emitter and the receiver can be a very critical
operation when deviating mirrors are used. Even very small
displacements of the mirror is enough to lose alignment. The use of
Pilz laser pointer accessory is recommended under these
conditions.
•
The minimum safety distance (S) must be respected for each single
section of the beams.
•
Use of a deviating mirror reduces the effective operating range by
about 15%. This percentage increases further when using two or
three deviating mirrors.
In the table below the operating ranges are indicated, based on the number
of the mirrors used.

The presence of dust or dirt on the reflecting surface of the mirror
causes a drastic reduction in the range.
2.2.6. Controls after first installation
The control operations to carry-out after the first installation and
before machine start-up are listed hereinafter. The controls must be
carried-out by qualified personnel, either directly or under the strict
supervision of the person in charge of machinery Safety.
Verify that:
AOPD remains blocked (
) intercepting the beams along the
protected area using the specific test piece, following the Fig.12
scheme.
