Putting into operation

This chapter describes how the instrument is installed and gives instructions on initial startup.

NOTE
Inspect the instrument for damages during unpacking. If necessary, prepare a status report immedia-
tely to inform the postal company, railway company or transportation company.

Installation site

DANGER

Death or serious injuries by use in explosive environments.
• Do not store or operate the instrument in explosive environments.
• Remove all sources of flammable vapors.
• Do not store chemicals in the vicinity of the device.

CAUTION

Risk of minor or moderate injury by heavy weight of the instrument.
• Lift the instrument carefully and avoid over exertion.
• Do not drop the instrument or its transport box.
• Place the instrument on a stable, even and vibration-free surface.
• Keep limbs out of crushing zone.

WARNING

Serious chemical burns by corrosives.
• The instrument may only be operated within a fume hood.
• Handle corrosives in well ventilated environments only.
• Always wear protective goggles.
• Always wear protective gloves.
• Always wear protective clothes.
• Do not use damaged glassware.

NOTE
Place the Scrubber K-415 on the left side of a digestion unit (e.g. SpeedDigester, Digest System
K-437 or Digest Automat K-438/K-432). The Scrubber ventilation is located on the left side. In case
the Scrubber is placed on the right side of another unit, cool air will hit the digestion sample and cool
it down, so that no digestion can take place.
