5.2 Cleaning the Printer
Periodic cleaning of the printer is recommended. The frequency of clean
ing is dependent upon the environment. You should clean the printer:
•at least once a month
•when you install a new drum unit
•when conditions such as blurred printing or stains on paper have oc
curred
Cleaning the Outside
of the Printer

Turn the power OFF.

Clean the cover with a soft cloth. Use any mild commercial cleaner.
Cleaning the Inside
of the Printer
Clean the inside of the printer by wiping any visible toner away with a
dry cloth. The following areas should be cleaned.
• Paper transport plate
• Resist pinch roller
•Transfer roller
• Pick up roller
•Fuser roller

Turn the power OFF.
Before cleaning the inside of the printer, allow the fuser to cool (about 5
minutes).

Push clamshell release button. Clamshell will open automatically.

Remove drum unit.
Remove developer unit.
