Like the project window, all item editing windows have a
content pane (for text, pictures and/or notes) and a metadata
pane - with pictures, tags, and links common to all items.
Pictures can be added independently of your notes, and the
links pane allows you to link a file on your computer or a web
URL to your item. Tags are single words or phrases that you
can use with smart views for very powerful filtering and
organizing (see
, p. 31).
Each item also has a header bar (shown below) to track its
status. Select a different status from the drop-down menu, and
the barʼs background color will change accordingly. (The color of
the itemʼs status identifier circle in the source list will also change.)

Tip:
A chapter is both a container that holds scene
items and an item in the novel container.
Because of these dual functions, you can treat a
chapter like an item and double click it to open
its own item editing window.
